See the Facebook EventOur Mission
Our mission is to replace Cavendish Town Park’s worn-out, unsafe playground with a safe, welcoming, and accessible place to play — sparked by a Cavendish sixth grader’s civics project and built by our community, for our community: a park where children of every age can play, and teens and adults can gather and stay active.
Our Vision
Our vision is to breathe new life into the heart of Cavendish. We envision a vibrant, inclusive space where generations gather, children laugh, and community bonds strengthen.
The park, nestled beside the Town Office on High Street, is more than just a playground — it is the center of community life in Cavendish. This project restores that cherished space so it stays safe, accessible, and joyful for every resident, from toddlers to grandparents.

A future hub for gatherings and celebrations — room for the whole town to come together.
Honoring the park’s long history while building its future, for the next generations of Cavendish kids.
The Park Today
These are the park as it stands right now, in the family’s own photos. The playground was built by residents years ago, and time has caught up with it.
Swings are broken, parts have come loose, the wood is rotting and splintering, and graffiti has marked the structure. Olivia’s father has described the existing equipment as a safety hazard — which is exactly why this project exists.
What’s Planned
The concept the town has approved moving forward with — the final design is still in development.
Removing hazardous, aging equipment to ensure a safe play environment for children of all ages to explore and play.
Creating a welcoming space with benches, picnic tables, and landscaping for families to gather, connect, and socialize.
Introducing modern fitness equipment and play structures designed to keep our community healthy and moving.
Concept renderings from the project’s Park Concepts presentation — design directions being considered, not the final design.
Olivia’s Story
Olivia Braucht, a sixth grader at Cavendish Town Elementary School, looked at the playground in Cavendish Town Park and decided her town deserved better. She turned that idea into a civics project — one that placed third in the middle-school division of the Regional National Civics Bee — and then she did something most students never do: she brought it to the Cavendish Select Board and asked the town to act.
With her parents, Cheryl and Eddy Braucht, helping lead the effort, the proposal has moved from a school project to a real town project. The Select Board voted to move ahead on July 13, 2026, and on August 10, 2026 it conditionally approved using the town’s existing Playground Fund for the effort.

Watch & share it on FacebookEvery fall, ski towns across the country kick off winter the same way: with the new Teton Gravity Research film. This year’s is “Actually, It Is Rocket Science,” TGR’s 31st annual ski film — and on Saturday, November 28, its 200-stop world tour comes to Ludlow, VT as a fundraiser for the Cavendish Town Park playground project. The film starts from a simple idea: before every drop, there’s a split second where the math has to be right — the speed, the angle, the landing you can’t see. TGR turns the mountain into a laboratory and lets the world’s best skiers run the experiment, testing speed, gravity, and instinct across Jackson Hole, Haines (Alaska), British Columbia, Japan, Finland, Andorra, and Montana — and right here in Vermont, at Jay Peak. The cast includes Kai Jones, Nick McNutt, Maggie Voisin, Karl Fostvedt, Parkin Costain, and Teal Harle, and the film has already picked up nominations at the iF3 Movie Awards, including Film of the Year.
Stills from the official promo.
Teton Gravity Research has been defining ski film for three decades. The company was founded in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, by brothers Todd and Steve Jones, who had worked as commercial fishermen and heli-ski guides in Alaska and poured their savings into camera gear. Their very first film, “The Continuum” (1996), won top honors at the International Ski and Snowboard Film Festival and was later inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. From those two brothers with a camera, TGR grew into one of the most influential names in action-sports media — more than 50 films, television series, and commercial work, shot on all seven continents.
Along the way came the films skiers still talk about: the Jeremy Jones trilogy “Deeper,” “Further,” and “Higher,” which traded helicopters for human-powered splitboarding expeditions into the most remote ranges on Earth (“Further” helped earn Jeremy Jones recognition as a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, and the “Higher” TV series was Emmy-nominated) — plus a beloved run of annual fall films including “High Life,” “Almost Ablaze,” “Tight Loose,” “Far Out,” “Magic Hour,” “Legend Has It,” and last year’s “Pressure Drop,” which marked TGR’s 30th year. A TGR premiere is a preseason ritual in ski country: a packed room, a lot of hooting at the screen, and giveaways from the sponsors.
It’s a fitting stop on the tour — a film with a Vermont segment, showing in Okemo’s hometown, on a night where every ticket helps build a new playground for Cavendish kids. Come get your winter started, and help Olivia’s project take its next step.
